The press has been full of stories yesterday and today claiming that the 9/11 commission, in its report, stated that there was no connection between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. The actual story is much more complex than that, and when looked at closely actually states the exact opposite. The report concludes that Saddam was not involved in 9/11, but this was never an actual claim of the Bush administration. The claim was merely that there was a connection between these two and the details of the report bear this out. Andrew McCarthy dissects the report and shows its internal contradictions and errors. Joel Mowbray looks at the media reactions to the report.
Nevertheless, the media in its need to further its own agenda of "Bush Lied" and assisting the campaign of John Kerry does not delve in to these issues.
